DPS Achieves 10 Year Milestone

Founded in August 1999 by Ian Dixon, DIXON Partnership Solutions (formerly Ian Dixon Strategic Advisors) has recently celebrated 10 years in operation.

Originally founded to provide strategic advice and support to business and government in working together, the focus has widened to include partnering between all sectors in the pursuit of sustainable development.

During the ten years of operation, DPS has had the privilege to work with people from many different organisations and to contribute to the achievement of significant outcomes across a range of industry and community sectors.

Some of the highlights of the last 10 years have been:

  • Chairing and project management of the South Australian Native Title Resolution initiative, from January 2000 to February 2009 and the independent facilitation of 10 claim wide Indigenous Land Use Agreement  (ILUA) negotiations resulting in some 29 ILUA agreements to date
  • Working with communities in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara (APY) Lands and Ngaanyatjarra Lands on developing and reviewing regional partnership projects, and being the catalyst for the development of a new and successful APY Sports League
  • Contributing to many significant issues and projects since 1999, such as an intersectoral strategic planning for Hearing Services in the Northern Territory, a strategic review of South Australias Regional Development Framework and a major environmental project in Northern Adelaide to reuse stormwater through aquifer recharge

In recent years, Ian Dixon has achieved international accreditation as a partnership broker through a scheme developed by the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) and the Overseas Development Institute (ODI). DPS has now become the licensee for Level 1 of this international accreditation scheme for the South East Asia and Australasian Region, and conducted a highly successful program at Mandurah, Western Australia in May 2009.

DPS has also become a partner organisation with Business for Millennium Development (B4MD), a not for profit organisation that aims to mobilise business in the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

All in all it has been a wonderful journey and an incredible opportunity to work with so many people in the pursuit of more effective cross sector partnering. We look forward to the next 10 years and supporting those people involved in global sustainable development challenges.
