The project
The review was initiated by Regional Development South Australia in response to the State Government's endorsement of recommendation 4 of the Economic Development Boards report, A Framework for the Economic Development of South Australia. The report recommended that 'The RDB framework be rationalised to ensure a more strategic whole-of-state approach is employed in the delivery of regional economic development initiatives and business extension services'.
The findings of this consultation were reported in Shaping the Future: A report of the consultation process used to review the South Australian Regional Development Framework, November 2004. Following endorsement by RDSA this report was forwarded to the State Government who have noted the findings and state that they intend to work with RDBs and RDSA to ensure a strategic approach to regional development in South Australia that takes note of the needs of regional communities rather than their boundaries.
Our role
We were engaged to facilitate the review and ensure that all key stakeholders were fully engaged in the review process. The process involved conducting a series of regional forums and focussed on how to design the best possible regional development board framework for the future of regional South Australia.
